Tech Features

Are you a content rights holder looking to create an OTT service that will adapt and thrive in the market, while creating engaging experiences for your viewers?

If so, you’ve come to the right place!  This new blog series will walk you through each of the seven components that make up the NeuLion® Digital Platform – the innovative OTT platform proven to create interactive, engaging over-the-top experiences on every device imaginable for viewers worldwide.

Through our extensive experience in the OTT market, we have found that these seven components are necessary to build, deliver and grow a successful OTT service.  As the only complete, end-to-end solution, the NeuLion Digital Platform ensures all seven components are always working together harmoniously so that your content, in all forms – both live and on-demand, - is readily available for your viewers to consume and interact with whenever and wherever they choose to.

First and foremost, to deliver beautiful, uninterrupted content, your OTT platform must be able to seamlessly acquire, ingest, encode and transcode your content into the correct formats and bitrates to support every different consumer device platform.

The NeuLion Digital Platform is agile and able to accommodate multiple methods of getting content and delivering it to viewers.  We work with you to determine the optimal means to acquire source signals including via onsite NeuLion encoder, fiber connection, satellite downlink or secure transfer mechanisms. Our encoding and transcoding process supports 720p, 1080p and up to 4K/HDR video, as well as multiple audio streams, ad cues, closed captioning and subtitle information; all delivered via adaptive bitrates.

All content, both live and VOD, is then transcoded into the appropriate formats, including AVC (H.264), HEVC (H.265), HLS, Smooth Streaming and MPEG DASH, to prepare for delivery across every different device imaginable.

In addition to video, we easily and seamlessly ingest all additional data associated with each video including metadata, stats and EPG data into the NeuLion Content Management system through various data feed protocols.  This prepares all video and data for the next component.

Stay tuned for the next post of this series to learn about our detailed content management component.
