Sky Angel Leverages NeuLion Platform Globally
Christian Service Inks Deal to Offer NFL Network
As American sports fans watched the New York Giants defeat the New England Patriots at Super Bowl 42, Sky Angel U.S., LLC, a national television provider of faith-based and family-friendly programming, becomes the latest to ink an agreement to offer the official network of the National Football League, NFLNetwork, as part of its new Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) channel line-up. Back in July NeuLion announced its partnership with Sky Angel U.S. LLC to launch Sky Angel, multiple channels of Christian-centered and family-friendly programming, using the NeuLion technology platform.
The service is now live and reaching thousands of subscribers. Sky Angel TV offers a variety of programming: entertainment, news, weather, family shows, kids & teens programs, music channels and more

"We believe the Sky Angel service, using the NeuLion platform, will be more economical than our current satellite system and will provide our viewers more options," said Rob Johnson, chief executive officer of Sky Angel. "We assessed a variety of different platforms and recognized that NeuLion's gave our subscribers the best advantages."

Outsource Your Television, Kill Your Telco

Telcos and cablecos hope to lure customers with bundled and discounted triple-play services-internet, phone, TV-and thereby hope to make it tough for independent ISPs to compete. Transforming yourself into a pay TV provider is theoretically possible, but it's definitely a non-trivial undertaking, requiring truckloads of cash, new personnel and an intensive learning process.
But there may be another way.
Plainview, N.Y.-based NeuLion Inc. an IPTV outsourcer launched in 2004, has until now mainly focused on serving the content provider market, helping niche broadcasters reach their audiences over the internet using its proprietary compression technology, TV set top boxes and end-to-end IPTV delivery system. FCC: Worry about TVoIP not Cable

Voice over IP was rolled out rapidly with the advent of Vonage and others paving the way. Companies like NeuLion are doing for TVoIP that Vonage did for VoIP. I have had a chance to visit Neulion and see their technology which allows high-quality (but not HDTV) television to be watched over a 700 kbps connection. Just as a VoIP provider such as a Vonage supplies you with a box which connects to a broadband line and a telephone, NeuLion supplies a box which connects to your broadband connection and television. Sound Tigers Launch Video Portal
AHL Team Debuts 24-Hour Channel
The Bridgeport Sound Tigers are proud to announce the launch of their own interactive video portal, "Sound TigersTV," the first of its kind in the American Hockey League.
